As someone who has struggled with chronic illness and mysterous health conditions for over 10 years, I simply have to honor the importance of self care. Luckily I have (mostly) overcome my symptoms with the help of trying out MANY different things. Most significantly was learning how to support my nervous system, asking my body what it needed and taking care of myself. If you are (or love someone who is) dealing with nonstop, chronic and mysterous health symptoms, then here are some things that I personally have benefitted from! (Although please note this is by no means medical advice, and please consult a doctor to make sure these are right for you).

  1. Sauna Blanket

A portable way to relieve muscle tension and activate your parasympathetic nervous system for deep relaxation. I love to use this as a dedicated space for meditation or reading, and always feel so refreshed after!

  1. Ice roller

I use this as a way to alleviate intense emotions, for soothing migraines and offering a quick, calming sensory reset when anxiety spikes.

  1. Red Light Mask

This can be used as part of a grounding self-care ritual at the end of a long day. It can support serotonin production, improve sleep, and mood regulation!

  1. Weighted Sleep Mask

This provides a deep pressure to the face to help calm the nervous system, improving sleep quality and easing nighttime anxiety.

  1. Matcha tea

Matcha is my go-to morning drink, and such a great alternative to coffee without the anxiety or jitters that come with it. L-theanine is the magic ingredient that increases a sense of focused calmness.

I hope these are helpful guides, but healing chronic illness and trauma is by no means are a one-size-fits all approach.  If you do choose to try these for your chronic health symptoms, I recommend you do this in conjuction with a therapist and/or medical provider for optimal results.
