Therapy for Complex PTSD
If you suffer from Complex PTSD (or CPTSD), you've likely felt misunderstood or invalidated most of your life, like you are “too much” or “not enough.” These experiences can leave lasting impacts on your relationships, work, and/or your self-esteem. You may have even collected a variety of different diagnoses (from anxiety, to depression to bipolar), but none of them felt like they quite fit.

CPTSD may look different for everyone, but at the root are repeated emotional wounds that add up over time. Many symptoms once served a protective purpose from childhood, when your nervous system had to adapt to survive the constant threat of rejection or abandonment. Now, these experiences have created longstanding patterns and habits that ultimately bring you more harm than good.

It's possible you've already gained insight into the root of these problems and where they stemmed from in childhood. My clients with CPTSD often say to me "I know why I do this thing, but I can't get myself to stop." Awareness is great, but it doesn't help you establish safety in your body, or teach you the skills needed to change. Healing from CPTSD requires learning how to regulate your nervous system, process stored emotional experiences, and build a new relationship with yourself.

CPTSD CAN LOOK LIKE:
-
Procrastination and task avoidance
-
Dissociation or feeling disconnected with yourself
-
Difficulties regulating intense emotions
-
Codependency, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries
-
Perfectionism or fear of making mistakes
-
Physical tension or unexplained health symptoms
-
Shame and not feeling “good enough”
-
And more...
