What are person-centered and relational therapies?
The foundation of my practice lies in a person-centered approach. This means that I take the time to get to know you as a whole person, not just your symptoms or struggles, but also your interests, values, relationships, and the experiences that shape who you are. I strive to cultivate a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable to talk to me about anything.
Being a relational therapist means I greatly value the therapeutic relationship. I invite honest, authentic communication about your thoughts and experiences in the present moment, even sharing how you feel about our work together. The most transformative work can be done when we really focus on how you and I both show up in relationship to one another, and how that translates to outside of therapy.
Through this collaborative and authentic process, therapy can become a space not only for learning new skills and insight, but also for experiencing new ways of relating, communicating, and healing.
